Morphological characteristics


Body: Tall with deep body

Body coat: Coat colour is white with or without brown spots/patches. A brown ring is present around the eyes.

Horns: Small horns/scurs are observed in 0.8% ewes and 25% rams

Legs: Long

Morphometric traits

Body weight: Adult male – 58.9±1.7 kg, female – 42.1±0.5 kg

Body length: Adult males: 85.3±0.8 cm; Adult females: 77.2±0.3 cm

Height at withers: Adult males: 88.2±0.7 cm; Adult females: 79.5±0.2 cm

Chest girth: Adult males: 89.6±1.0 cm; Adult females: 81.8±0.4 cm

Remarks: Flocks are housed in open enclosures with or without a thatched shed. Flock migration was reported in Mouli from November to March.
