Morphological characteristics

Body: Medium sized

Body coat: Mottled (black coat colour mingled with varying shades of tan and off white)

Ears: Medium to long, flat, drooping but alert

Quarters: Heavier hindquarter.

Morphometric traits

Body weight: Adult male 43.3±0.92 kg, female 31.8±0.26 kg

Chest girth: Adult males: 81.4±0.58 cm; Adult females: 75.4±0.22 cm

Reproductive traits

Age at first breeding: 15-18 months

Age at first lambing: 18-24 months

Litter size: 0.75-0.85, rare twins

Production traits

Greasy fleece: 0.5-0.6 kg per annum; twice a year shearing

Remarks: The animals are reared under extensive management system. Dhanger community chiefly rears these sheep.
