Home tract: Herlen, Ulziit and Bayan Khutag districts of Khentei province and in the Asgat district of Sukh-Batar province.

Morphological characteristics

Body: Compact, well ribbed

Body coat: Completely white

Head: Medium sized with a narrow forehead

Horns: Males have curved horns and the females are polled

Neck: Strong and well developed

Ears: White, leaf-like and tapering

Shoulders: Fleshy

Quarters: The hindquarters are well developed and the loins are broad.

Tail: Thin

Back: Broad, round

Udder: Well developed with long teats (5 to 6 cm)

Morphometric traits

Body weight: Birth weight – male 3.8 kg, female – 3.5 kg; Adult male – 76 kg, female – 56 kg

Body length: Adult males: 76.2 cm; Adult females: 71.0 cm

Height at withers: Adult males: 71.5 cm; Adult females: 66.3 cm

Chest girth: Adult males: 102.5 cm; Adult females: 98.9 cm

Ear length: 8-12 cm

Tail length: 15-20 cm

Reproductive traits

Age at first breeding: 18 months

Lambing interval: One year

Litter size: Single, twinning rate is 10-30%

Production traits

Daily milk yield: 0.500-1.000 kg

Greasy fleece: Male 4.0-6.0 kg, female 2.6-4.0 kg per annum;

Fibre length: 8-10 cm

Dressing percentage: 47%

Remarks: Mutton quality is good.
