Morphological characteristics

Body: Large, leggy animal with a high-set body; well ribbed and compact

Body coat: Light grey or white in colour and the head and legs are brown, tan or even black.

Head: Medium size

Nose: Slightly Roman, wide nostrils

Horns: Males are all horned, while about 35 percent of females are polled

Neck: Strong and well developed with fleshy shoulders

Chest: Broad

Back: Broad, round

Morphometric traits

Body weight: Birth weight – male 3.9 kg, female – 3.6 kg; Adult male – 85 kg, female – 65 kg

Body length: Adult males: 74.1 cm; Adult females: 71.8 cm

Height at withers: Adult males: 72.8 cm; Adult females: 69.7 cm

Chest girth: Adult males: 94.9 cm; Adult females: 93.4 cm

Reproductive traits

Age at first breeding: 18 months

Lambing interval: One year

Litter size: Single

Production traits

Daily milk yield: 0.060-0.100 kg

Lactation period: 60 days

Greasy fleece: Male 2.4-2.6 kg, female 1.5-2.0 kg per annum;

Fibre length: 9-16 cm

Dressing percentage: 48.9%

Remarks: The mutton quality is good.
